Endlich ist meine Seiko Ananta Automatic Chronograph da
Dies ist mein Favorit unter den Ananta Uhren, und ich habe mir seit der Lancierung dieser Modelreihe diesen Chrono gewünscht
Please, allow me to proceed in English as my German writing is not that fast nor good. I can very well read German, and also reply in short terms, but when it comes to longer correspondance, it is easier for me in English ...
The case design of the SRQ003 is inspired by the Japanese art of swordmaking, "Katana", and the special work on the lugs bares great resemblance to the Samurai helmets of the past, when seen in certain angles. The last finish to the case is made by hand by a few specially trained Seiko watchmakers
The watch is driven by Seiko´s 8R28 column wheel chrono movement, which first saw the light of day in 2007 when it was introduced in the Velatura Automatic Chrono. The rotor has nice decorations that should lead the thoughts on to speed and strength. The movement beats with 28800 BpH and the chrono seconds hand just elegantly slides around the dial at this rate. The chrono pushers are nicely finished in both shiny and brushed steel and they are a pure joy to operate - buttersmooth
Timekeeping is excellent, and the watch has lost only 1 second in the past 4 days.
A large watch like this is, 46mm across, demands 24mm lugs and a bracelet that can carry the watch. Fortunately, Seiko has put a great bracelet on the Ananta Chrono, and both watch and bracelet makes this piece sit very comfartable on the wrist. My only criticism of the watch is that Seiko has chosen to stick to the pin and collar system on a nice piece like this
Lastly, the dial is really detailed and the nice shiny markers and hands are very easy to read - even in very low light. Often, I catch myself looking at the watch. Not to read the time, but to see how it looks in this angle ... and in this ... and in this ...
The Ananta line is placed just below the Grand Seiko line. To be honest, right now I really doubt that the finish of the Ananta can be beaten by any Grand Seiko - but hopefully, one day, I will find out and be able to compare the two lines from Seiko
